Québec is Canada's largest province and one of its most popular destinations is Old Québec City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Quebec

Québec is Canada's largest province and consists of hilly agricultural land along the banks of the St Lawrence and vast tracts of barren mountains in the north: a breathtaking panorama of towering rock faces, 13.323 km of coastline, looming canyons and craggy fjords.

Québec's 3 national parks, 23 provincial parks and 15 wildlife reserves beckon outdoor enthusiasts. More than 100.000 lakes and numerous rivers offer excellent fishing. In the tundra of Québec's Far North, caribou and other game roam the land.

What distinguishes Québec from other Canadian provinces is its French heritage. Actually, Québec's official language is French and Montréal (the province's largest city) is the largest French-speaking city in the world after Paris.

Between Quebec's most popular destinations you'll find the Old City of Quebec, also named Vieux Quebec and whose walls and green copper roofs are the defining characteristics of Québec City.

Quebec City is the only fortified city in North America and is one of the most 'European' cities on the continent, with a 95% Francophone population. A UNESCO World Heritage Site that celebrated its 400th anniversary in 2008.

Between Quebec's most popular destinations you'll also find the Old City of Montréal, also named Vieux Montréal, whose historic waterfront section has been carefully restored and contains many beautiful buildings and gathering places including Place Jacques-Cartier; the former French governor's residence, Château Ramezay; the city's oldest chapel, Notre-Dame-de-Bonsecours; and Pointe-à-Callière, the Montréal Museum of Archaeology and History.
